California Lighthouse

The California Lighthouse is one of Aruba's most recognizable landmarks standing proudly on the island's northwestern tip near Arashi Beach. Built between 1914 and 1916, the lighthouse was named after the steamship California which sank off Aruba's coast in 1891. For more than a century it has guided ships navigating the Caribbean Sea while becoming one of the island's most visited attractions. Its elevated location provides spectacular 360-degree views of Aruba's coastline, desert landscape and the brilliant blue Caribbean waters.

Visitors can admire the historic lighthouse from the surrounding grounds or climb to the top for unforgettable panoramic views stretching across much of the island. The area surrounding the lighthouse is equally impressive, featuring rolling sand dunes, rugged coastline and scenic viewpoints that are especially popular during sunrise and sunset. Its location also makes it an excellent starting point for exploring nearby natural attractions and beaches.

The California Lighthouse is frequently combined with visits to Arashi Beach, Boca Catalina, Tres Trapi and Alto Vista Chapel. Whether you're interested in Aruba's maritime history, capturing incredible photographs or simply enjoying one of the island's finest viewpoints, the California Lighthouse remains an essential stop during any visit to Aruba.
